Call for Anthology Submissions

DreamPunk Press is looking for ten scary short stories 8,000 to 10,000 words for a Halloween anthology (Draft title: Horror for Halloween) to be published in October 2022. We don't want a lot of gore or extremely dark horror (we want mature 13-year-olds to be able to read it), but we want all the scares you can give us otherwise, all centered around a Halloween event gone wrong.

Homophobia is out of the question, as is racism and sexism. Please do not use rape or the threat of rape as your scare.

Humor is NOT out of the question.

Your story can be set in the future, in the past, or in an alternate universe as long as it centers on a Halloween event. A Halloween party, trick or treating, a Halloween séance gone wrong - or something you make up entirely. Ghosts, zombies, vampires - you know we love them all here.

Happy endings are optional.

So start writing, and submit your stories to dreamer-in-chief@dreampunkpress.com before August 1, 2021. We plan to let accepted entrants know by August 31, but please bear with us if the pandemic does its thing again. We will let you know of any delays.

Payment for accepted stories will be $100 plus a limited-edition hardcover version of the anthology. While we don't expect to be the only entity you submit your story to, please let us know if it is accepted elsewhere. We are offering payment only for First World-Wide Publication Rights.

EVERYONE who enters a submission will get a coupon code for %50 off the anthology when it comes out next October.

Keep dreaming,

Your Dreamer-in-Chief
